The Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center presents the San Marco Chamber Music Society in a production of the children’s book “Martin’s Big Words: The Life of Martin Luther King, Jr.” by Doreen Rappaport with an original score by composer Kevin Day, pictured below. A quartet will perform the day composition and other arrangements during a multi-media presentation at the LMCC.
The San Marco Chamber Music Society is formed by members of the Jacksonville Symphony Ellen and Eric Olson. The LMCC performance will feature the original composition by Day who is an internationally acclaimed composer, conductor and pianist whose music often intersects between the worlds of jazz, minimalism, Latin music, fusion and contemporary classical idiom. He is a leader among emerging youthful classical, music professional on the national and international stage and winner of several young composer awards. He has over 200 works that have been performed throughout the world. He is currently Assistant Professor of Composition at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario Canada, He is pursuing his DMA in composition form University of Miami Frost of Music.
The event will take place in the Excelsior Room on the second floor of the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center. Tickets are available for $25, through Eventbrite or at the museum desk. Parking is available in front of the museum and behind at the paved lot.
