LMCC unveils Women Who Made a Difference!

The Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center is honoring five local icons through their new digital exhibit, Women Who Made a Difference. Viewers can navigate through the interactive touchscreen exhibit, viewing documents, photographs, and interviews to learn about the obstacles each woman faced in their lifetime. These Lincolnville women all showed courage and determination in a time where society did not treat Black women as equal citizens, yet they did not back away from their dreams or duties. The LMCC is proud to honor their memory in Women Who Made a Difference

The exhibit showcases the following women: Barbara Vickers, a Civil Rights movement participant and the catalyst behind the Foot Soldiers’ Monument downtown,  Kat Twine, an activist who would not let jail keep her from fighting for civil rights, Janie Young Price, a nurse committed to her duty, despite the discrimination she faced from her employers and even her patients,  Mildred Larkins, a single mother and educator whose dedication inspired all her students, and Debby McDade, a trailblazer who sacrificed everything to pursue her life-long dream as a jazz performer.

Women Who Made a Difference is open to the public on June 3rd, 2021. Visitors can access the exhibit during museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museum is located at 102 Martin Luther King Ave, Saint Augustine, FL 32084. Admission is only $10 for adults, $5 for students and children, with 10% discounts for military and seniors. Free parking is available on-site.
